Twitter. I have a lot of bad things to say to it, but that’s another topic on its own.
You might have an account dedicated to follow only those whom you want to follow, be it artists, musicians, news, or anything you want to follow.
There’s an alternative frontend called Nitter that allows users to browse Twitter without actually using Twitter.
What Nitter does
- Allows you to browse Twitter anonymously (and in my opinion, non-addictively).
- Allows you to follow Twitter accounts via RSS (using a third party RSS reader)
What Nitter does NOT do
- Post tweets on Twitter. It is only a frontend, not a Twitter proxy(ish) service. You may want to look at Mastodon (and its instances) if you want an anonymous social media site similar to Twitter.
- Follow accounts within the site. You may use the RSS feature to follow your favorite Twitter accounts that way.
- Like and Retweet posts. Again, just a frontend.
